A Spearing Family Tree
Welcome to one particular line of Spearings! Most of the links back to 1839 are supported by marriage and birth certificates but the odd rumour may have crept in. If anybody would like more detail I do have addresses and dates for many of the names. Any additions or further information no matter how small would be most welcome.
You may view either a traditional pictorial tree
which has not been updated for some time now, or an indexed HTML facility which contains many side branches and is easier to search for a specific name. Happy hunting!

I took a days holiday in July, or possibly August, to take a trip up to London and try to find some of the places where my ancestors use to live. The following link shows the results of my day out.

Site history
I constantly update small changes to the information on this site but the following lists some of the major breakthroughs as people contact me.
Text based tree last updated:
03 April 2008 - Again it seems I have been lax in updating the site, particularly as the winter of 2007/2008 was a very sucessful time, having mastered the art of looking for ancestors in the census returns where the surname spelling was not as you might expect. The biggest gain has been on Sue's side of the family where little information has been replaced by a comprehensive tree.
09 May 2007 - I cannot believe it is this long since I updated this site, my apologies for all of the additions I have found in the past eighteen months and not shared. This update is nothing more than that, lots of minor changes which are the result of hours of work and lots of correspondence with friends and family all across the world.
08 November 05 - Large number of additions to DYET family and Canadian descendents added courtesy of Holly Colquhoun, Julie Barlow and Keith Hurst.
28 March 05 - Text colour & size changed to assist readability on laptops.
06 March 2005 - Additions to Webster line courtesy of Ann Hills and additions to Dougold/Marshall line courtesy of Alison Bushby.
09 January 2005 - Additions to Hazlehurst line courtesy of Hazel Evans.
02 November 2004 - Many small additions made over the summer plus a new section with photographs of the streets that some of my ancestors lived in.
01 May 2004 - Addition of a new SPEARING line from 1850 to the present day provided by a third cousin once removed, many thanks to Mark and Debbie Anderson for the details.
23 March 2004 - DODKIN line taken back a few generations after a contact through Genes Reconnected, many thanks to Angie Watts.
05 March 2004 - SPEARING line taken back one generation and then forward to 1900's down another line. New second cousin contacted hence multiple additions to NELLIS family. Many thanks to Leigh Oliver and Heather Kershaw.
29 November 2003 - With the 1881 Census now being online at Familysearch.org much detail has been filled in regarding dates and places for all main lines. Scots Origins has also provided an enormous amount of data for the Scottish side of the family. The 1901 Census information has been added for those alive at the time. WALLIS line traced to Nottingham, EARL line taken back a generation, GRICE tracked to Manchester.
09 March 2003 - Add various individuals to SHEEN & ALLEN families courtesy of Linda Goodfellow.
27 October 2002 - Added various photo's across all lines and added detail to two SPEARING generations after discovering notes, left by Grace Ellen SPEARING, while clearing out junk room.
06 October 2002 - Testing the addition of photo's of deceased relatives.
13 January 2002 - Large number of dates and detail added to EARL lines courtesy of Susan Yates. Many more to follow.
21 October 2001 - Additions made to EARL and WALLIS lines courtesy Peggy Ritter (Tuffs) and Margaret "Mum" Mulligan (Wallis).
23 September 2001 - Turnes surname corrected to Turner courtesy Rosalind Hillman (Turner).
20 July 2001 - Additions made to Mayhead branch courtesy of Paul Mayhead, Worthing.
24 April 2001 - Working hypothesis added for parents of Gavin Wilson DYETT and Agnes BOYD. Elizabeth McALPINE thought to have been married Elizabeth MALCOLM. Surnames preceded by ++ must be considered low probability.
17 March 2001 - Large numbers of additions made to Prowse and Sheen branches courtesy of Linda Goodfellow, Colchester.
07 March 2001 - Large numbers of additions made to Dyet branch courtesy of Sue Dyet, Australia.
