Thanks for bringing back some memories with your East End Addresses page and photos.
Just a few points that may be of interest................ I used to live in Peabody buildings until 1974 and my parents and grandparents lived there
since it was built. There was not much damage done during the war to the buildings just a few cracks ( I can remember them being plastered
over as a kid). All around was completely destroyed as the Germans used to try to bomb Peabodys as from the air it looked like a barracks.
The first 2 of your photos are of what was known as the New Buildings. They were built just before WW2. The older buildings were built
around the 1850s. The red car in the second photo is the exact spot were my Dad dropped dead in the street from a heart attack in 1993 so
it sent shivers down my spine when I saw it..............
